32nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
November 7 - 8, 2026
“Therefore stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”(Matthew 25:13)ST. JOHN LATERAN
Monday the church celebrates the dedication St. John Lateran Basilica, the seat of the Bishop of Rome, currently Pope Leo the XIV. At the entrance of the basilica, the pilgrim reads: Omnium Ecclesiarum Urbis et Orbis Mater et Caput - “Mother and Head of All the Churches in the City and the World.” Each Diocese celebrates the dedication of its seat, ours is St John the Evangelist, but St John Lateran being the church of the world is celebrated by all. It is one of the few Feast days that does not celebrate a person (Exaltation of the Cross one also), in fact there is not a St. John Lateran. Lateran is the name of the family who worked with several Roman emperors. In 324 the church was dedicated to Christ the Savior, later dedication to St John the Baptist and St John the Evangelist were added. Its official name is Papal Archbasilica of the Most Holy Savior and Sts. John the Baptist and the Evangelist in the Lateran. It is the final resting place of 6 popes, at one time was the papal residency, and this year we celebrate the 1702-year anniversary of its dedication.
SPEND TIME WITH THE LORD
All are invited to spend time with the Lord in quiet prayer on Tuesday November 10th from 5-6pm in the church. Spend a few minutes or the whole hour. Spending time in prayer is a great way to grow in your relationship with Christ and to strengthen your prayer life.
REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
Please remember in your prayers the soul of Aldona Krivinskas who was buried from our parish. May she, and all our faithful departed rest for eternity in the peace of Christ.
SUNDAY COFFEE
This Sunday, November 8th we will have our monthly coffee social after the Sunday Masses in the School. You are invited to stop in after Mass on Sunday for refreshments and conversation with fellow parishioners. Coffee after the 8:30am Mass is being hosted by members of Holy Name. The November Kavutė after the 11am Mass is being hosted by Švyturys. There is no charge for this, but donations are gladly accepted.
PAPAL INTENTION
Pope Leo XIV intention for November, For The Proper Use Of Wealth: Let us pray for the proper use of wealth, that not succumbing to the temptation of selfishness, it may always be at the service of the common good and in solidarity with those who have less.
CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT (CCHD)
Next weekend, November 14-15, is the Catholic Campaign for Human Development Appeal. Nearly 38 million people in the United States live in poverty. This collection supports programs that empower people to identify and address the obstacles they face in bringing permanent and positive change to their communities. 25% of all money collected remains in the Diocese of Cleveland and is awarded to local organizations working to break the cycle of poverty and educating around the root causes of poverty. There is an envelope included in your monthly envelopes for this collection. Please be generous.
VETERANS DAY
Wednesday, we celebrate Veterans Day (November 11th ), a day on which we reflect on how our nation was able to grow and prosper in freedom and be a beacon of hope to a troubled world. Much of this has happened because of the commitment of those who served in the armed forces. On Veterans Day, we honor those who have faithfully served in times of war and peace. Remember to thank the Veterans and offer your support to their organizations – such as our Catholic War Veterans Post 613 – who do so much to care for Veterans in need and to promote patriotism in the United States. God Bless all of them!
NEWS FROM THE CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS
This Saturday, November 7th in honor of Veterans’ Day, the Catholic War Veterans Post 613 will be gathering for the 5:00 Mass, with the color guard marching in and out of church before and after Mass.
NEWS FROM HOLY NAME
Our diocesan Holy Name Societies are sponsoring a spiritual bouquet for Bishop Malesic the weekend of November 14th - 15th. A spiritual bouquet is a tradition among Catholics where prayers and devotions are offered on behalf of another person's intentions. Instead of a bouquet of real flowers, everyone attending Mass during that weekend will be counted as a spiritual flower that will be added to those from other participating parishes to make up Bishop Malesic's bouquet.
